Our Story

Shannon was born and raised in Eugene. She attended South Eugene High School and earned a Fine Arts degree from the University of Oregon.

Both of her grandmothers contributed to her design sense in different ways. One grandmother was a minimalist, with a keen sense of space, balance, function and form. The other grandmother was a “more is more” person who surrounded herself with antiques. Shannon’s style combines a bit of both. She loves clean and modern environments but also appreciates objects and spaces with a patina of age. Though she edits down her surroundings, she keeps them personal.

Shannon’s family has been involved in intelligent urban design in Eugene, including building and operating hotels. She’s a licensed Broker at Hybrid Real Estate. Her husband, Tycer, now operates his own construction company, Labrador Construction, after years spent doing finish work and custom cabinetry.

All of this experience, combined with Shannon’s very developed sense of style and vision, makes her uniquely attuned to the challenges and opportunities of both residential and commercial spaces.

She began her career by remodeling and designing her first home with Tycer one piece at a time. Her friends appreciated her eye for detail and style, and hired her to help with their projects. She has staged multiple homes and has undertaken some unique commercial projects in Eugene. Shannon and Tycer now live in a 1920s farmhouse in Coburg, which they are painstakingly renovating.

Shannon chose the name Wind-Rose Design because it has multiple meanings for her and her family. A wind-rose is an old-fashioned name for a compass, which was her first gift to Tycer when they began dating. The wedding ring she gave to Tycer is inscribed with a special message:

"And you, a windrose, a compass, my direction, description of the world."  Ian Burgham

Wind-Rose Design would love to help you find and create your dream home.
